Summary:

A binary pair of Earth-like worlds in the heart of a cluster of over 200 ELWs.

Description:

For a few months in the summer of 3309, The Children of Raxxla squadron sponsored an expedition to find new habitable worlds near the centre of the Galaxy, to help safeguard humanity in the face of present and future threats. The Children of the Core expedition searched in all the regions close to the centre, and were particularly successful in finding a cluster of over 200 Earth-like worlds in the Juenae sector. There were many contributors to the search, and CMDR Kit Ausland in particular examined almost 10,000 systems in the Juenae EH-C d subsector, establishing the foundation of the enclave that was named Outland by the members of the expedition.

At the heart of this cluster lies this system, nicknamed Little Centralia, home to twin Earth-like worlds which are only 0.62 light seconds apart from each other, and only 3.3 ly away from Centralia, chosen as the homeworld of Outland. Here, the fleet carrier Crioch Leanabachd has taken station as a permanent outpost, affiliated with the Azura Initiative, to provide the nucleus of future settlement. Other Azura carriers have taken up station in Centralia: there is a tritium market provided by SCG Site 4: Sore Eyes (T2F-25M) and a research station on board AIRV Song of Azura (N3Z-69Z). Little Centralia is also the usual home of Endeavour (Q6J-67Q).

Other than the binary Earth-likes, and a terraforming candidate Water World (A 8), there is little else of interest in the system - no surface life or active volcanism. Landable bodies are found only around the secondary star.

But at only 307 ly from Sagittarius A*, which is dimly visible from body AB 1 (see the image below), the extreme star density of the area means that there are many new worlds yet to be found, even within the range of a single hyperspace jump.

Sagittarius A* seen faintly from AB 1
