Description:

The fifth planet of this system is a massive Class III Gas Giant, notable for the dark colours of its atmosphere. Its mass (around 2,300 Earth Masses) is comparable to the four brown dwarf stars, and so is its radius. However, since this planet hasn't ignited nuclear fusion at all, it retains an impressive ring system. The bright colours of the rings provide an impressive visual contrast to the dark clouds of the gas giant.

This system was discovered on 3305. February 7, during the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. It has a rather convenient location along the Colonia - Sagittarius A* route, less than two sectors deep into the galactic core.

The nickname of this entry comes from the seeing stones in J. R. R. Tolkien's works. These dark crystal balls were used to watch over parts of the world, and to communicate with those who looked into the palantírs.
