A transcription of the GMP entry on EDSM as shown in the notice above "This system is home to possibly the first black gas giant ever found near the galactic core. Discovered on February 7th 3305 during the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. It's discoverer has dubbed it The Palantir due to it's resemblance to the famous seeing stones found in J.R.R Tolkiens ancient writings. With a mass of almost 2,300 earth masses and a radius of 72,000 km it dwarves some of it's Y Class star brothers it shares the system with. As an added bonus it's massive ring system has an inner radius of 143,000 km and is rich in metallic resources. A must see destination for any explorer travelling between Colonia and the galactic core." The moon 5 B has a nested moon orbiting at approximately 5Mm and provides a great vantage point to view the nested 5 B A and The Palantir. | → | The fifth planet of this system is a massive Class III Gas Giant, notable for the dark colours of its atmosphere. Its mass (around 2,300 Earth Masses) is comparable to the four brown dwarf stars, and so is its radius. However, since this planet hasn't ignited nuclear fusion at all, it retains an impressive ring system. The bright colours of the rings provide an impressive visual contrast to the dark clouds of the gas giant. This system was discovered on 3305. February 7, during the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. It has a rather convenient location along the Colonia - Sagittarius A* route, less than two sectors deep into the galactic core. |
