Description:

This system is houses a rare phenomenon: a wide-ringed neutron star is in orbit of a black hole..

The black hole itself can be seen from within the neutron star's rings, from about 3.8 kls away, thanks to how it warps the Milky Way behind it.

The neutron star itself is peculiar as well. Its intense brightness makes flying near it challenging. Its jet cones are very slow, and seem to be straight lines as documented in a video here.

The star's rings has are 9.43 ls wide, and seem to have three different density regions, although there are only two rings. They go further beyond the star's exclusion zone that is at 779 km. The outermost parts are so thin that you can hit the ring in supercruise without seeing it. Even after dropping down to normal flight you might barely see a rock.

The name Mairon was chosen by the original discoverer, CMDR EfilOne, here. It means "admirable" in the fictional Quenya elvish language.
