Summary:

Alastor, the home of the Stolon trees and pods

Notice: This POI shares the same star system with a prior existing entry in the Galactic Mapping Project (GMP). You can visit the original entry using the link below:

Description:

Alastor is a small blue and pink planetary nebula deep within the reaches of the Abyssal Plain, in the Outer Scutum-Centaurus Arm galactic region. It is named in honour of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Alastor, or the Spirit of Solitude. This nebula is a welcome scene of colour in the bleakness of the western parts of the Scutum-Centaurus arm. Within the nebula is a neutron star, the stellar remnant of a supernova 230 million years ago. There are no bodies suitable for landing in this system, although a K-class star 16,000 light-seconds away from the neutron star is orbited by a gas giant with water-based life.

This nebula is the first discovered of the only two known habitats for Stolon Trees and Pods.

The stolon trees and pods can be found in a Roseum Lagrange Cloud near the B star, which creates a striking colour combination with the nebula. Both trees and pods are safe to approach.

They can also be found in Flyoo Groa XW-W c4-13 (Asterius) via the DSSA Solsen's Alastor as noted below.

DSSA Entry by CMDR RenSolsen:

DSSA Solsen's Alastor is a private research vessel commissioned by the Solsen Institute for the study of biological and organic structures, primarily, the Stolon trees and pods. As a commitment to the scientific community, the carrier also provides DSSA services and a safe harbour to privateers that venture out to the Outer Scutum-Centaurus Arm.

The Stolon trees research park includes two locations (Alastor and Asterius). The carrier can travel the short jump between systems if so needed. Asterius (the brother) has landable bodies, two Stolon locations and Tritium hotspots with a view to Alastor nebula.
