DESCRIPTION | ||
→ | ||
→ | Situated on the 'southern' edge of the Norma Expanse, this medium sized nebula has a distinct 'hollow' region several LYs across embedded within it, where the gas and dust thin out to produce this unique feature. When approaching from a certain orientation, explorers have also reported that the nebula resembles an ancient Earth painting by the artist Edvard Munch called 'Skrik' - 'The Scream', and thus the nebula is often referred to as The Screaming Nebula ('Skrik' meaning Scream in the artists native Norwegian language). Several of the embodied nearby systems are host to varieties of Notable Stellar Phenomena and have a number of moons containing inactive Guardian Ancient Ruins and species of brain trees. The ruins found in this nebula are evidence of a Guardian presence within this sector of space millions of years ago. New lighting has affected the visibility of the Hollow Veil nebula. | |
