SUMMARY | ||
→ | An asteroid base dedicated to terraforming, close to Guardian ruins. | |
DESCRIPTION | ||
→ | ||
→ | New Growth is an asteroid base that's relatively close to inhabited space, around 800 ly away, near the Pencil nebula. It orbits a planet that is a candidate for terraforming, and the station is dedicated to that, but the process hasn't been completed yet. (Even though it has been over five years since the base was constructed.) This station was notable for having full facilities, including a shipyard, which was quite rare for deep space outposts - but following the introduction of fleet carriers, this has been less important. Still, this asteroid base was often used as a staging point for explorers over the years, as it's right next to the territory of the extinct Guardians. In 3308, New Growth again experienced a surge in traffic, when the activities of Taurus Mining Ventures (which was later revealed to be a front for the controversial Azimuth Biochemicals corporation) drew attention to the nearby Synuefe CE-R c21-6 system.
