SUMMARY | ||
A close binary consisting of a Water World and a landable High Metal Content world. | → | A close binary pair of planets, a Water World and a landable High Metal Content world, orbiting their shared barycenter quite closely. |
DESCRIPTION | ||
→ | ||
This system hosts a close binary consisting of a Water World (BC 1) and a High Metal Content planet (BC 2). They orbit their common barycentre in just over 18 hours, and the cloudless Water World is clearly visible from the surface of the other planet. As it's relatively light (with a mass of only 0.1 Earth Masses), the two orbit each other fairly closely, and the blue planet looms large in the other planet's sky. Mirroring the stark difference in appearance and properties between both bodies, the pair is named after the two Norse goddesses Rán and Jörð, the former representing the sea, the latter, the earth. | → | This system hosts a close binary pair of planets, a Water World (BC 1) and a High Metal Content planet (BC 2).
