DESCRIPTION | ||
→ | ||
Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 A 5 is an M Class Star 30,483.05 Ly from Earth, located in the Odin's Hold Region nearby the Rorschach Nebula. It houses an incredibly massive (3.14 quadrillion Mt) 3.17 Ly wide metal-rich ring, seen with the naked eye thousands of light seconds away. It was first discovered during the Distant Worlds 2 Expedition, in 3305, by CMDR LordTyvin. It is a small, low-mass star, with an apparent magnitude of 11.82. Its sector name, Scaulou, has identical properties in random generation using the surname Scanlon which is an Anglicized form of the Irish Gaelic name Ó Scannláin, which means "descendant of Scannlán". This star is a member of the Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 star system, being identified as component Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 A 5, and is 2.85° to the northwest of the Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 AB pair. It is currently 207,430 AU (3.28 ly) from AB, which it orbits with a period of about 5.84 years. Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 A 5 is a red dwarf star with a mass about .18% of Sol's mass (M☉) and its actual diameter is about 31% the diameter of Sol. Although it has a very low average luminosity, A 5 can potentially be a flare star that randomly undergoes dramatic increases in brightness because of magnetic activity. A 5 has one known exoplanet and one gas giant: A 5 a and A 5 b. A 5 a, the exoplanet, orbits the star at a distance of roughly 4 Ly with an orbital period of approximately 4.5 Earth days. Its estimated mass is a miniscule 0.03 times that of Earth. A 5 b, a Class III Gas Giant, orbits within 6 Ly and also houses a typically proproptioned metal-rich ring. | → |
Scaulou XK-O e6-4974 A 5 is an M Class red dwarf star in a system that's 30,483.05 ly from Sol, located in the Odin's Hold region near the Rorschach planetary nebula (Xothuia KM-V e2-2291). The star has an incredibly massive and wide ring system, spanning across 3.17 ls and weighing 3.14 quadrillion Mt. It is so wide that it can be seen with the naked eye from thousands of light-seconds away.
This location was first discovered during the Distant Worlds 2 Expedition, in 3305, by CMDR LordTyvin. Like other stars of its kind, it is a small, low-mass star and dim red dwarf star, with an apparent magnitude of 11.82. Two bodies orbit A 5 as its satellites, with the first moon being a landable rocky body without an atmosphere, and the second one a ringed class III gas giant. Unfortunately, the rings of the gas giant aren't as special as the rings of its parent star are. |
