SUMMARY | ||
→ | A binary star system consisting of a Wolf-Rayet star and a blue-white super giant.
DESCRIPTION | ||
→ | ||
→ | This illustrious duo of stars shines more luminous than most of its neighbours. The main Wolf-Rayet star’s luminosity class I and its satellite’s luminosity class Ia0 really compel you to put on several pairs of sunglasses. Their size is even more impressive. Although the central star has nine times the radius of Sol, it is absolutely dwarfed by its partner: As a blue-white super giant bordering on being a hypergiant, the secondary star boasts over 450 solar radii. Together, they weigh over 118 solar masses. (This system has been discovered by CMDR Seamus Harper. It was first catalogued by CMDR Andrew Gaspurr.)
