SUMMARY
The Sagan Research Centre is housed within an asteroid near the Thor’s Helmet (NGC 2359) emission nebula. The Sagan Research Centre is housed within an asteroid near the Thor’s Helmet (NGC 2359) emission nebula.
DESCRIPTION

Named after astronomer, author, and science communicator Carl Sagan, the Sagan Research Centre is an asteroid base located in a system with one star and two planets, one of them a gas giant with ammonia-based life.

The station is not only located in the immediate vicinity of the Thor’s Helmet nebula, it has also a clear view of the Seagull nebula, which is only some 280 ly away. The base is operated by Thor Biometrics and houses around 2,500 personnel.

Due to the somewhat larger distance to Sol (some 3,600 ly), only limited station services are available, and the commodity market provides only a bare minimum of goods. These limitations results in tourists or travellers being not a common sight at the research centre. However, the Hell Port asteroid base in the nearby Seagull nebula does have more amenities, including a shipyard.
