SUMMARY
The Sagan Research Centre is housed within an asteroid near the emission nebula Thor’s Helmet (NGC 2359).
DESCRIPTION

Named after astronomer, author, and science communicator Carl Sagan, the asteroid base is located in a system with one star and two planets, one of them a gas giant with ammonia-based life.

The Sagan Research Centre is not only located in the immediate vicinity of the Thor’s Helmet nebula, it has also a clear view of the Seagull Nebula, some 280 ly away. The base is operated by Thor Biometrics and houses around 2,500 personnel.

Due to the somewhat larger distance to Sol (some 3,600 ly), limited station services and a market that provides only a bare minimum of goods, tourists or travellers are not a common sight at the research centre.
